Mohammed Shami married Hasin Jahan, a former cheerleader for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), in 2014. However, the couple split up in 2018 when Jahan filed a formal complaint against her husband and family, claiming abuse and domestic violence.
In the midst of the ongoing legal dispute, the Calcutta High Court judge clarified that the INR 4 lakhs amount was determined by taking into account Shami’s income, the future of his daughter, and the way of life his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, had been leading before to their split.
At first, Jahan had asked for INR 10 lakh in total, INR 3 lakh for her daughter, and INR 7 lakh for herself. On Tuesday, July 2, however, the Calcutta High Court ordered the seasoned Indian fast bowler to provide her wife INR 1.5 lakh and her daughter INR 2.5 lakh per month.
The prior maintenance sum of INR 1.30 lakh, which was determined based on a district sessions court ruling in 2023, experienced a significant increase. Following that decision, Shami’s supporters showed him a great deal of sympathy and support.
Jahan told the media that it is a major victory for her after the judge of the Calcutta High Court informed the parties involved of the ruling. However, she believes that given Mohammed Shami extravagant lifestyle and the rate of inflation in recent years, the maintenance amount ought to have been higher.
“Mohammed Shami Ahmed’s lifestyle is less expensive at ₹4 lakh. Seven years and four months ago, we had made a monthly demand of ₹10 Lakh. We will choose ‘CAVEAT’ since that prices have also gone up. For me, this Calcutta High Court ruling is a major victory. Jahan was described by the Free Press Journal as saying, “Although I respect the court’s decision, I believe that given Mohammed Shami Ahmed’s status, we should receive more money so that I can easily maintain my daughter’s future.”
Jahan further asserted that Shami had pressured her to give up her acting and modelling jobs. She stated that the Bengal speedster will have to cover her and their daughter’s expenditures because she is not currently employed anyplace.

After being overlooked by the selectors when they were choosing the team for the current Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Mohammed Shami is looking to return to the Indian Test system. Earlier this year, he was a member of India’s successful Champions Trophy campaign. Experts and supporters, however, questioned his form and fitness throughout the ensuing Indian Premier League (IPL).
