On the first day of the second Test match between India and England at Edgbaston, bowler Chris Woakes’ outstanding ball to eliminate all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy severely damaged India’s first innings in the third session.
In his second spell back, Woakes hit a length delivery from around the wicket that seemed to go back in. Woakes took his second wicket of the game with this. In order to bolster the lower-middle order batting, Nitish Kumar was notably added to the playing XI in place of Shardul Thakur. But the youthful player, who was playing in his sixth Test match, was only able to contribute one run to the total.
The ball slammed down his off stump after Nitish Kumar, who chose to leave the ball, missed the line totally.

India loses wickets quickly after
India got off to a sluggish start when England asked them to bat first. Woakes bowled KL Rahul for two off 26 balls as he struggled at the top. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal appeared to be in excellent form once more, hitting his fifty in just fifty-nine balls. The squad was in a strong position because to his 87 off 107 deliveries, which included 13 boundaries, until he gave up his wicket to Ben Stokes shortly after tea.
Just before noon, Brydon Carse removed Karun Nair with a brief delivery after he had contributed 31 runs while playing at No. 3 in place of the dropped Sai Sudharsan. When Rishabh Pant tried to hit Shoaib Bashir over long-on and quickly found Zak Crawley in the deep, his brief knock of 25 came to an end. Ravindra Jadeja is at the crease with skipper Shubman Gill, who is batting at 76. With almost 30 minutes of play left in the day, the two will try to hold on and take no more wickets. The visiting team’s score was 238/5 after 67 overs.
