Despite their high level of geopolitical tension, there is a considerable probability that India and Pakistan will play one other in September. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has reportedly started new negotiations to host the Asia Cup in September, according to Cricbuzz.
Additionally, according to the same magazine, ACC is working on the schedule and plans to reveal it in July. The competition is scheduled to be held by ACC during the second week of September, most likely on September 10.
In a six-team competition, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and Afghanistan will join India and Pakistan.
Given that the T20 World Cup 2026 begins a few months after the Asia Cup, the competition will most likely be contested in a T20 format.
According to the journal, “the UAE is still the front-runner to host the tournament, but there is also some discussion about staging it in a hybrid format.”
Since the ICC announced the Women’s T20 World Cup schedule, which has India and Pakistan in the same group, the ACC has been more confident about hosting the tournament.
