The absence of Jasprit Bumrah, India’s top pace weapon during the 2025 tour of England, for the second Test of the five-match series is a topic of much discussion. On July 2, the second Test match will kick off at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Since Arshdep has experience in English conditions and Akash Deep hasn’t played a single game in England, it would only be fair to consider his county cricket stats when determining whether or not he is a suitable candidate for the Edgbaston Test.
Kent played five First-Class games in the 2023–24 County Championship with Arshdeep.
He only took 13 wickets in eight innings with a strike rate of 74.5 and an average of 41.8, though, so he was not particularly effective. He bowled five wides and six no balls in addition to throwing up 31 maidens.
Arshdeep has no prior bowling experience in Edgbaston, where the second Test will be played.
Arshdeep claimed six wickets at an average of 30.7 in the second innings if his county experience is to be broken down into innings-by-inning performances. The left-arm bowler claimed two wickets each in the third and fourth innings, albeit at averages of 75 and 45, respectively.
