At the Hazelgrave Ground in Loughborough, Harvansh Pangalia, the son of a truck worker, scored 103 runs off of just 52 deliveries during India U-19‘s tour match against the Young Lions Invitational XI.
After Rahul Kumar (73 off 60) was dismissed on the third delivery of the 36th over of the innings, the 18-year-old entered the batting order at No. 9. By then, India U19 was 251/7. It didn’t seem likely that they would play all 50 overs, but Pangalia and RS Ambrish stitched a 126-run partnership for the eighth wicket before the latter left.
Harvansh Pangalia was at 47 off 33 balls when Ambrish returned to the pavilion.
On the following ball, he hit a boundary to get his half-century. With three consecutive sixes off Manny Lumsden, who finished with figures of 4 for 101 in 10 overs, the wicketkeeper-batter concluded the innings.
His team’s late burst was crucial as India U19 finished the innings with an incredible 442/9. Pangalia hit 17 boundaries in his innings, including nine sixes and eight fours. In October 2024, the youthful player, who also plays for Saurashta U19, crushed 117 against Australia U19.
