After a successful ball-change, Ravindra Jadeja pumped his fists in front of on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney, resulting in a humorous exchange.
The amusing incident happened at the conclusion of the 27th over of the first Test’s fourth innings. In response, Gaffaney grinned and gave the all-rounder a back pat.
Interestingly, India had been requesting a change in the ball used for a while. But their efforts to do so were unsuccessful. The ball was tested through the hoops following the aforementioned over, and the umpires selected a replacement ball because the ball failed the test.

The tourists have already asked the umpires to switch the ball during this Test. The umpire rejected a similar motion made by Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant on Day 3. Rishabh Pant was penalised for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct after he tossed the ball out of irritation.
On Day 5, England began play at 21/0 in six overs and ended up at 117 for no loss in 30 overs at lunchtime. Zak Crawley (42* off 93) provided Ben Duckett with good assistance as he reached his 15th Test half-century (64* off 89). To give their team the best chance of winning, the opening duo will try to reduce the deficit at a respectable run pace.
Mohammed Siraj (0/23 in eight overs) and Jasprit Bumrah (0/21 in nine overs) bowled at an economy rate under three. Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, however, gave up more runs than India would have liked.
