'I will play till the moment God has written in my destiny' - Jasprit Bumrah maintains unmoved by criticism despite injury fears

On Day 3 of the first Test match against England at Headingley, Leeds, Indian quick Jasprit Bumrah put on an outstanding display, taking five wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah revealed that he has always played cricket based on his own belief, despite many doubting his longevity.

The right-arm pacer reflected on his journey, stating that while many had doubted his longevity, believing he would not last more than six to eight months, he is now on the verge of completing ten years in international cricket. The Ahmedabad native tied the great Kapil Dev for the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian in away Test matches with this fifer.

“My goal is to represent India in cricket. I’ve always played cricket because I believe in it. I have come to play on my own beliefs in all three formats. People told me that I won’t be able to sustain my career. ‘You’ll play for six months, eight months,’ they said when I did. And now I will be finishing 10 years in international cricket,” Jasprit Bumrah said in the press conference after Day 3 at Headingley.

After playing in the IPL for more than ten years, Jasprit Bumrah pacer said he no longer worries about what other people think. Leaving everything in God’s hands, he stated that he plans to keep playing for as long as it is meant to. He made it clear that advancing Indian cricket and helping the squad reach new heights are still his top priorities.

“I have spent the last 12 or 13 years playing in the IPL. People have continued to say that I will be absent from the squad till today. However, I don’t give a damn, so let them think whatever they want. Every three to four months, I continue to do it. Until God writes my destiny, I shall continue to play. I put my all into it and let God handle the rest. I make an effort to carry forward whatever God has given me. to lead the Indian squad to greater heights,” he continued.
