Prithvi Shaw requests NOC to leave Mumbai, likely to switch to Maharashtra

In a startling move, star batsman Prithvi Shaw has stated that he is willing to sever his relationship with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). To legally proceed, the right-handed hitter has asked his parent association for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

The India international wants to represent another state as a “professional” after being out of the team for a while and even being disregarded by the home team. Gaurav Gupta of the Times of India claims that Shaw might play for Maharashtra during the forthcoming home campaign. In important competitions like the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he might play under the tutelage of the gifted Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“He has requested our NoC, and we will make a decision shortly,” an MCA source told The Indian Express.

Prithvi Shaw was given a two-week training regimen designed by the MCA coaches after being dismissed by the Mumbai senior selection committee from a Ranji Trophy match last year for being unfit. According to the team management, Prithvi needs careful conditioning before he can rejoin the team because his physique is 35% fat.

Prithvi Shaw reportedly got bids earlier this month from two to three states. In October of last year, the MCA selection committee decided that Prithvi Shaw needed to lose weight in order to be able to play for the Mumbai squad once more. The selection committee chose not to include him in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which was played in December 2024, because his form and fitness never improved.

“God, tell me what else I need to see. If I complete 65 innings and score 3399 runs at a 55.7 average and a 126 strike rate, I’m not good enough. However, I will continue to believe in you, and I hope that people will continue to believe in me. because I will definitely return..

Om Sai Ram,” Prithvi Shaw wrote on social media following the selectors’ disregard for him.

The 25-year-old has represented India in five Test matches, six ODIs, and one T20I. In July 2021, he made his final visit abroad. In November of last year, Shaw was not sold during the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Many people thought Shaw would be signed as a replacement player for the 2025 Indian Premier League, but that didn’t happen.

Long considered India’s batting star of the future, the Thane native is now looking for better opportunities in the hopes of reviving his waning career.
