The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have announced the appointment of veteran West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as their new head coach ahead of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2025). Phil Simmons, who is now the head coach of Bangladesh’s men’s national team, will hand up the responsibilities to Bravo.
Dwayne Bravo played in 107 matches during his remarkable CPL career, wearing the TKR shirt in nine of the eleven seasons. He amassed 1155 runs and claimed 129 wickets at an economy rate of 8.74. He won five championships as a player, including a memorable one in 2021 while leading the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
“Being granted the chance to lead TKR, a team that is very dear to my heart, is an honour. In a social media post, he expressed gratitude to Coach Phil Simmons for his time and dedication over the past few years. He said, “I am looking forward to this new challenge for myself and my staff.”

He coached the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. Additionally, he has served as a bowling consultant for the Chennai Super Kings and, more recently, the Afghanistan team for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Notably, TKR lost to the Barbados Royals in the Eliminator of the first playoff round despite finishing third in the league stage in 2024.
Dwayne Bravo will play in the WCL with the West Indies Champions.
Dwayne Bravo is still playing even though he has taken on coaching duties. In the second World Championship of Legends (WCL) tournament, which begins July 18 in England, the 40-year-old will once more play for the West Indies Champions alongside his long-time teammates Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard. The competition will take place in places such as Birmingham, Leeds, Leicester, and Northampton. On July 19, the West Indies champions will play the South African champions at Edgbaston to start their campaign. The Caribbean heroes advanced to the semifinals the previous year until Pakistan eliminated them.
