South African cricketers rise in ICC Men’s Test Rankings following WTC final victory

Several members of South Africa’s side have risen in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, and the new ICC World Test Champions are revelling in their success.

Player of the Match from the Lord’s final, Aiden Markram, is at the forefront. The batting hero is now just two points behind Daryl Mitchell (725) of New Zealand in 10th position of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, having advanced seven spots to barely outside the top 10.

Markram’s brilliant Test batting performance helped lead South Africa to victory in the WTC Final with a vital and game-winning 136 runs off 207 balls.

Due to his equally important wickets for South Africa, he has risen a staggering 44 spots in the Test All-Rounders Rankings.

In the Batting Rankings, David Bedingham, who sealed the historic victory for South Africa, also made a noteworthy move, moving up 17 spots to share 40 with Cameron Green.

Lungi Ngidi, a fast bowler from South Africa, has also moved up seven spots in the Bowling Rankings after leading Australia to victory in the second innings with a brilliant stint with the ball. Lahiru Kumara of Sri Lanka and Naseem Shah of Pakistan are tied for 37th place.

Kagiso Rabada, the best bowler for South Africa, continued to hold his second-place ranking, behind Jasprit Bumrah of India. He has 868 rating points, 21 more than Pat Cummins, who is still in third place.

All-rounder Beau Webster and seasoned speedster Mitchell Starc of Australia, the runners-up, both profited from heroic performances.

In the bowlers’ and all-rounders’ rankings, Starc rose to 10th place after taking five wickets throughout the Test and scoring a valiant half-century in the second innings.

In the meantime, Webster rose 13 spots in the Batting Rankings after leading Australia in scoring during the first innings.

The Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 activity has seen some notable increases in the ODI Player Rankings.

In addition to rising 21 spots among bowlers and another 27 spots among all-rounders, Michael Levitt, the top-order batsman for the Netherlands and a skilled ball handler, has risen 22 spots in the Batting Rankings.

After League 2 action, Levitt also shot up 11 spots in the T20I batting rankings to finish in 30th place in the tri-series, just behind Mohammad Haris of Pakistan.

His partner Noah Croes, who made a crucial fifty from the four-wicket victory over Scotland, also shot up 20 spots in the Men’s ODI Batting Rankings. In the 16-run victory over the Dutch, Aarif Sheikh of Nepal top-scored with the bat and moved up 13 spots in the batting standings.
