Kohli wishes fathers across a very happy Father's Day

Virat Kohli, an Indian cricket veteran, used social media to send his late father, Prem Nath Kohli, sincere Father’s Day greetings. After a 17-year wait, the renowned batter recently won the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) first championship in 2025 while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Virat thought back to his father’s priceless counsel to always work hard for everything in life and to never take short corners. He emphasised the important lesson that you do not deserve something if you lack the drive to strive for it. The well-known Indian footballer acknowledged that his life and career were greatly influenced by this advice. He ended by wishing a happy Father’s Day to his father and all fathers worldwide.

He taught me to never depend on influence or short cuts since hard work will reveal your true abilities. And perhaps you don’t deserve it yet if you lack the motivation to work for it,” Virat posted on Instagram.

“On one occasion, he turned down an easier route for me. “If you’re good enough, you’ll find your way,” he remarked calmly and firmly. And it’s better to know that early if not. How I live, work, and present myself in the world has been influenced by that one moment. He said, “Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers whose silent strength serves as our compass throughout life.”

After retiring from Twenty20 Internationals in 2024, the top-order batsman also announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 12. Kohli will continue to play for India in the 50-over format and will now only concentrate on the forthcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2027.

Shubman Gill will captain India as they prepare to play England in a five-match Test series that starts at Headingley on June 20.
