WV Raman wants KL Rahul to take the pitch against England because "he's the most experienced of the lot"

The necessity for KL Rahul to lead India in the series against England was discussed by WV Raman. As the team’s most seasoned hitter, Rahul will need to shoulder some extra responsibility, the former Indian batter emphasised. Rahul will be held to high standards in the forthcoming series, according to Raman.

Since the great batter has batted in the middle order in previous years but as an opener recently, he also considered whether batting position would be best for him. Raman expressed his optimism that Rahul would flourish in England because of his versatility.

Since he is the most seasoned player and has been in the game for a long time, KL Rahul will undoubtedly need to step up. He has a good temperament and has previously represented India effectively in all three formats. Therefore, there would be high expectations for KL Rahul,” Raman said in a Sony Sports Network-sponsored exclusive interview.

Given that we have seen KL Rahul move up and down the order in practically every format, it will be fascinating to see where he is likely to be placed during the series. The good news is that he continues to score runs as well,” Raman continued.

They must be absolutely certain about who will bat where: WV Raman

Since it will be a lengthy series and different combinations could be tried depending on the playing conditions, Raman finished by noting that the management needed to clarify his batting position.

“But I think they (Indian team think-tank) need to try and have a very clear idea of who’s going to be batting where right through the series, because in a five-match series, you’ll have the opportunity of sussing things out and also trying to zoom in on the best possible combination that you could play for the later half of the series where things really hot up,” Raman said.
