A victory in the WTC final might inspire the cricket community in South Africa: Sanjay Bangar

"This is a year of underdogs, and it could be a very good story for the relevance and the importance of the World Test Championship," Sanjay Bangar stated.

A victory in the WTC final might inspire the cricket community in South Africa: Sanjay Bangar

According to former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar, winning the WTC final can have a big impact on energising the South African cricket community and motivating a new generation of players. He also made comparisons to how India’s victory in the 1983 World Cup served as the impetus for a renewed sense of self-confidence.

Australia and South Africa will face off in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at London’s storied Lord’s Cricket Ground. On Wednesday, June 11, the one-time match begins. Since 1998, the Proteas have not taken home a senior ICC championship. Nonetheless, the Rainbow Nation can break the drought this week against reigning champions Australia under Temba Bavuma’s leadership.

This year’s underdogs could make for a compelling narrative about the significance and applicability of the World Test Championship. Additionally, there is a chance that a significant national victory could inspire the cricket community in that country. Sanjay Bangar, a JioStar specialist, stated before of the much-awaited summit fight that “if that has to happen, it will be fantastic for the growth of South Africa.”

They are a highly proud country when it comes to sports, yet they have somehow lost the spotlight at pivotal moments thus far. A generation of young South African players will be inspired if these players can accomplish it, though, and there won’t be a shortage of potential. They might need something comparable to India’s 1983 realisation that “yes, we can go out and do very well on the world stage.” Thus, from a South African perspective, that is the relevance,” he continued.

In Australia, I don’t find any weak points: Sanjay Bangar

There are no weaknesses in Australia’s defences, according to the cricket player-turned-expert. With players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Lyon able to provide significant runs down the order, Sanjay Bangar also demonstrated the depth in Australia’s batting.

In terms of weak points, I honestly don’t see any in Australia because they have a bowling attack with expertise and some hitters with experience. Because Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Lyon can all contribute with the bat, they also have depth in the batting lineup. It will be a lot of work, but reputation is not a factor in cricket. In those two innings, players from both teams will get two chances to be the star. Sanjay Bangar said, “So let’s hope and see if South Africa can do that. That will be fantastic for South African cricket.”
