When India travels to Australia later this year to play white-ball matches against the Men in Yellow, Cricket Australia (CA) intends to give Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma a suitable send-off.
In October and November, India will play three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is. After assisting India in winning the T20 World Cup the previous year, Rohit and Kohli have retired. They made the decision to end their storied Test careers in the middle of the IPL. Only in the ODI format will the two great batters now wear the Indian jersey.
At least until the 2027 ODI World Cup, Rohit and Kohli are anticipated to stay in the 50-over format. Even though Rohit recently said that he would like to play for India in the major tournament, Kohli, who averages an incredible 57.88 in ODI cricket, is anticipated to do the same.
In a recent interview, CA CEO Todd Greenberg expressed his opinion that Rohit and Kohli may be playing their final games in Australia in October during the ODI series.
He cited Cricket Australia readiness to honour the legendary pair’s outstanding achievements to international cricket by providing them with a fitting farewell.
It may be the final time we watch Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli play in our nation. According to IANS, Todd Greenberg stated, “And if that is the case, who knows, it might not be, but if it is, we want to make sure we give them a great send-off and represent the incredible contribution they’ve made to international cricket.”
During India’s August tour of Bangladesh, Rohit and Kohli were on display. On August 17, 20, and 23, India will play three One-Day Internationals.
Since they had lost both of their previous ODI series against Bangladesh in their home ground, the Men in Blue will seek retribution. India lost by 1-2 margins in 2015 and 2022. Three Twenty20 Internationals will follow the ODI series on August 26, 29, and 31.
