Indian veteran Rohit Sharma was selected captain of his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 side by former cricketer and broadcaster Navjot Singh Sidhu. Following the conclusion of the 18th season of the IPL, he made the news on his YouTube channel.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the coveted trophy for the first time in their history when the competition came to a close on June 3 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Sidhu highlighted Rohit Sharma five IPL victories, one T20 World Cup, and one Champions Trophy win while expressing his respect for his leadership and legacy. He underlined that the Mumbai Indians (MI) appeared to be a totally different team when Rohit Sharma recovered his form. Citing their experience at the top of the order, he also called Rohit and Virat Kohli the best openers in the white-ball format.
On April 23, Rohit Sharma scored 70 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to start playing well.
On May 1, he scored another half-century against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), demonstrating his importance and securing the five-time champions’ place in the IPL 2025 playoffs.
On May 30, the Indian hero scored 81 runs to lead MI into Qualifier 2 in the Eliminator match against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Mullanpur. MI lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Qualifier 2 on June 1 in Ahmedabad, despite his best efforts.
Rohit proved his worth as a big-match performer by finishing his campaign with 418 runs in 15 innings at a remarkable strike rate of 149.28.
