In the forthcoming thrilling IPL 2025 final against PBKS at the Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3, former India pacer Varun Aaron thinks that star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli will not only bring his A-game with the bat but will also engage in combat with an opposing player or bowler.
Both RCB and PBKS have played in the league since its first season in 2008, although they have never won a championship. With Tuesday’s matchup, it will be confirmed that one of the two teams will end their trophy drought and make history.
In the meantime, Kohli has had yet another incredible batting season, smashing 614 runs at a strike rate of 146.53 and an average of 55.81 in 14 games. Notably, each of his eight fifties to far has led to an RCB victory. The batter’s mindset prior to the summit match was highlighted by the former bowler.
“Choosing a battle is what Kohli excels at. He simply chooses a battle and becomes totally absorbed in it, which is exactly what Virat Kohli will do tomorrow. This is how he cues in and zones in, especially during important games. He will select a bowler. According to India Today, he stated, “He’s going to go after him.”
It’s interesting to note that PBKS has only allowed one half-century to be scored by Kohli in their three games this season, keeping him quiet. Aaron added that Kohli maintains his composure during stressful situations thanks to this mentality. According to the former bowler, Kohli takes advantage of these rivalries.
“You’re going to see him come hard on the pitch as well and try to pick a battle with somebody, and he consumes himself in that battle, and that’s how he gets going and that’s how he wins big finals,” he stated.
Their fortunate charm has been Josh Hazelwood: Varun Aaron
After defeating PBKS in Qualifier 1, RCB easily advanced to the IPL 2025 final. But in the Qualifier 2 against the Mumbai Indians, the team captained by Shreyas Iyer went the extra mile and produced an incredible comeback.
The pacer also discussed how Josh Hazlewood, an Australian fast bowler, affected the RCB’s campaign. With an average of 15.80 and an economy of 8.30 this season, the bowler, who has never lost a final in his career, has claimed 21 wickets in 11 games.
“I mean, RCB is using a lot of symbolism this year. After a long time, they managed to win a game at the Chepauk. This year, they have accomplished amazing feats. Additionally, Hazlewood has been their lucky charm—not just a lucky charm, but someone who has excelled and knows what to bring to the championship game,” Aaron remarked.
