Rajeev Shukla may serve as the BCCI’s president until the board’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September 2025. Shukla may take over as Acting President of the world’s richest cricket board from July to September, till the AGM, when Roger Binny’s present term draws to a close.
From 2017 to 2019, C K Khanna also served as the BCCI’s interim president. According to NDTV Sports, Shukla is qualified to become the future President of the BCCI if he plans to run for the position after his temporary term is over. Shukla was the previous chairman of the IPL and is currently a member of the Congress Party.
Sourav Ganguly’s term as board president, which ran from 2019 to 2022, ended in 2022, and Roger Binny took over as president. It’s important to remember that in 2022, Binny was the only candidate to submit a nomination for president of the BCCI. The 1983 World Cup champion served on the BCCI’s Selection Committee prior to becoming president.

Binny’s time as the BCCI President was filled with highs and lows. The Indian Men’s Team won the Asia Cup in 2023, advanced to the ODI World Cup final in 2023, and took home the Champions Trophy in 2025 and the T20 World Cup in 2024 under his direction.
During his tenure, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) was also established. Binny helped to improve the compensation structure and incentives, develop and prioritise domestic cricket, and get seniors to play in domestic events. He became the president of the BCCI with Binny’s assistance as the former president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
In the 1983 World Cup, which India won under Kapil Dev’s captaincy, Binny was the top wicket-taker. In 1985, when India defeated Pakistan in the final to win the World Championship of Cricket, which was a sort of Champions Trophy, he was also the top wicket-taker.
