Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could have believed they couldn't lead Test cricket as they once could: Thakur Shardul

Given their inability to contribute or lead the format as they once did, Shardul Thakur believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma may have left Test cricket. On May 7, Rohit declared his retirement from red-ball cricket, and on May 12, Kohli did the same.

The two senior statesmen’s presence provided a great deal of safety for the other players in the system, according to Thakur, who is back in the Indian Test team for the forthcoming five-match series. The seasoned all-rounder added that a healthy blend of youth and experience produces positive outcomes.

Even though they are the most senior players in the game, these choices are subjective. In an interview with RevSportz, Thakur stated, “It occurs when they feel they can’t contribute or drive the format as before.”

“Having a good mix of senior and junior players in the team produces flourishing results, and there is a great deal of protection when senior players are around,” he continued.

According to Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, the most seasoned player in the Test team, would play an even more crucial role without Rohit and Virat Kohli.

The cricketer from Mumbai stated that every player, including the team’s new captains, will be put to the test during the England tour.

“The most experienced person presently is Jaddu. With increased duties, including leadership positions, this tour will put everyone to the test. We have the talent, but it’s a new task. “Young athletes should take advantage of this chance to create their own legacy,” Shardul stated.

The largest problem facing England is the weather: According to Shardul Thakur Thakur, the most difficult aspect of the next tour in England will be the unpredictability of the weather.

The largest problem facing England, in my opinion, is the weather. All three weather conditions can be seen in a single day. The temperature drops abruptly. It is pleasant and toasty when the sun is out. And it starts to rain again when it’s overcast,” Thakur said.

On June 6, the Indian squad is anticipated to depart for England. Starting on June 20, the first Test match will take place at Headingley in Leeds.
