Priyank Panchal, the former captain of Gujarat, has announced his retirement from all formats.

A total of 127 First-Class games were played by the top-order hitter.

Priyank Panchal, the former captain of Gujarat, has announced his retirement from all formats.

In an emotional social media statement on Monday, May 26, former Gujarat captain Priyank Panchal announced the end of his career. Prior to declaring his retirement, the 35-year-old top-order hitter participated in 127 First-Class games. A swarm of responses wishing him well in his future aspirations flooded the post.

He was incredibly appreciative of his late father for giving him the guts and strength to pursue his cricket career. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to his mother and sister for positively influencing his confidence and the amount of work he would put into his game. He thanked the supporters for encouraging him to give it his all at every stage of his career in his closing remarks.

In 127 domestic red-ball matches (207 innings), Priyank Panchal scored 8856 runs for Gujarat.

During his stellar career, he averaged 45.18 tonnes, which includes 34 fifties and 29 tonnes overall. In his time playing the game’s longest version, he has also recorded 98 catches.

As one of the select few players to have scored a triple-ton (314* off 460 against Punjab in the Ranji Trophy 2016–17), Panchal has an impressive record. In addition, Panchal has participated in 59 T20 matches and 97 List A games.

In the 2016–17 season, Panchal led his state team to their first-ever Ranji Trophy victory. Additionally, he has won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (2012–13 & 2013–14) and the Vijay Hazare Trophy (2015–16).

The Gujarat Cricket Association took to X to congratulate Panchal on his remarkable career.

“An Era Is Over! On May 26, 2025, Priyank Panchal announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, and the Gujarat Cricket Association congratulates him on an incredible career. With perseverance and pride, he commanded Gujarat and India A in every format. We honour his commitment and legacy. “Best wishes for his future success!” said the post from GCA.
