Indian cricketer Deepti Sharma, who leads the Women’s Premier League (WPL) UP Warriorz, has accused her teammate Arushi Goel of stealing more than INR 25 lakh worth of jewels, cash, and other valuables from her Agra home. In the FIR that Deepti just filed, she also accused Arushi of trespassing into her private property, which is an apartment in the Sadar neighbourhood of Agra.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which has since superseded the Criminal Procedure Code, contains several clauses that accuse Arushi of theft, housebreaking, criminal breach of trust, and insult, according to the FIR. Her brother Sumit has filed a complaint in Agra on Deepti’s behalf. Deepti, who is also the state of Uttar Pradesh’s deputy superintendent of police, has been occupied with the national team in Bengaluru.
Because they were on the same squad, the two cricket players grew close over time. The FIR stated that Arushi and her parents then began taking advantage of Deepti financially, claiming financial hardship and family issues.
“Over the course of two years, my sister lost more than INR 25 lakh. Arushi refused to give the money back when she confronted him. The Times of India cited Sumit as stating.
“The incident has caused significant distress to Deepti Sharma, who is at the moment preoccupied with her training commitments and is preparing for the Team India camp in Bengaluru ahead of the England tour,” he stated.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police at the police station where the complaint was filed, Sukanya Sharma, stated that they filed a formal report after determining that the information presented contained solid prima facie evidence.
Sumit Sharma, Deepti Sharma brother, brought the complaint to the Sadar police station. We filed a formal complaint under BNS sections 305 (a) (stealing), 331 (3) (housebreaking), 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust), and 352 (insulting someone with the purpose to create a breach of peace) after first finding some validity in the complaint, according to the ACP.
Even though Arushi did not reply when contacted, the police department has already begun an inquiry, so further information is still pending.
