However, during his absence from the Indian T20I team, the wicketkeeper-batter has been scoring runs in the few T20 cricket opportunities he has had. He has put up some outstanding performances in the IPL 2025. On Sunday, May 18, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, KL Rahul opened the innings against the Gujarat Titans (GT) as a No. 4 hitter and amassed an incredible 112* off 65 balls, hitting 14 fours and four sixes.
KL Rahul has amassed 493 runs from 11 innings in the current IPL 2025 with a strike rate of 148.10 and an average of 61.60. The Karnataka cricketer is expected to return to the T20I team when India plays Bangladesh in a three-match series in August, according to a Times of India (TOI) article.
In recent years, India’s T20I cricket opening lineup has included some daring batsmen. Players like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have demonstrated their ability to attack the bowling from ball one.
Before making the huge shots, KL Rahul, on the other hand, tried to get his eye in.
