Devajit Saikia denies claims that India had withdrawn from ACC events, saying, "BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps."

Since this morning, the reports have been making the rounds. Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, has underlined that neither a decision nor a conversation of any kind has been made over the team’s participation in the competitions.

Additionally, Devajit Saikia refuted any allegations that he discussed the matter with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), stating that the board is presently preoccupied with the current Indian Premier League (IPL) and the forthcoming five-match Test series against England.

The BCCI has reportedly decided to withdraw from the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup and has placed the men’s Asia Cup participation on hold due to the recent border conflict between India and Pakistan.

Such rumour is untrue because, as of right now, the BCCI hasn’t even talked about or taken any action related to the upcoming ACC events, much less sent any correspondence to the ACC (Asian Cricket Council). Our main focus right now is on the current IPL and the ensuing England series, both for men and women. One may argue that the BCCI will make an announcement as soon as a significant decision is made and any conversation over any ACC tournaments occurs, according to Devajit Saikia, who was cited by Sportstar.

India’s performance in the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup

With eight titles under their belt, India is now the most successful team in the Asia Cup. Going into the event, the Men in Blue would be the reigning champions. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, they defeated Sri Lanka in the final to win the title in 2023.

In reference to the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup, it began in 2023 and was won by the India A Women’s team, who defeated Bangladesh A Women by 31 runs in a low-scoring match to become the first champions. Shweta Sehrawat was the captain of the India A women’s squad.
