India A’s next tour of England will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran. The 18-member team and the schedule were made public by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) via a media advisory. India A will play three games in total, two against the England Lions and one intra-squad match versus the senior Indian team, according to the press release.
The deputy captain was revealed to be Dhruv Jurel. Harsh Dubey, the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy Player of the Tournament, and Anshul Kamboj were called up to the India A team for the first time. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is not allowed to play in the current Indian Premier League, was included in the team as well. In addition to Shardul Thakur and Kamboj, the pace-bowling department also features Tushar Deshpande, Khaleel Ahmed, Akash Deep, and Harshit Rana.
Prior to the second game, it was also mentioned that Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill would be joining the team. Currently, the two are playing for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. To advance to the playoffs, GT needs to win just one of their last three group-stage matches.
On June 20, the senior team’s five-match Test series is scheduled to begin. In terms of the batting order, it is unclear who players are nominated to take the place of the seasoned pros in their respective positions given the recent retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the longest format.
The India A team will travel to England.
