Smriti Mandhana, an opener for India, rose one spot to second place in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings after her game-winning century in the Sri Lanka women’s tri-series final.
After a half-century against South Africa in a group match, the left-hander scored 116 runs off 101 balls against Sri Lanka in a 23-run triumph in the final, bringing her rating points to 727, just 11 points behind top-ranked Laura Wolvaardt.
After a spectacular 123 against South Africa, Smriti Mandhana colleague Jemimah Rodrigues moved up five spots to a career-high 15th rank, while Deepti Sharma moved up 13 spots to share 32nd place with her 93 against South Africa.
Second place Players from Sri Lanka also improved on the weekly update’s batters’ list. Vishmi Gunaratne has risen eight spots to 63rd, while captain Chamari Athapaththu has risen two spots to share seventh place. The largest increase, 19 spots to 75th, was made by Anushka Sanjeewani.
Even though South Africa’s team did not achieve the success they had hoped for, its batters each produced strong individual performances.
With innings of 67 and 74, vice captain Chloe Tryon has risen nine ranks to 18th among batters, seven points shy of her career-high 601 ratings points. In their match against Sri Lanka, she also scored a hat-trick, moving up three spots to 11th in the all-rounders’ list and 14 spots to 50th in the bowlers’ list.
Tryon’s colleagues, Annerie Dercksen, Tazmin Brits, and Nadine De Klerk, have moved up to a shared 32nd, 50th, and 54th position, respectively. In the lists of bowlers and all-rounders, De Klerk and Dercksen have also made progress. Dercksen has soared 19 spots to 44th among all-rounders, while the former has risen one spot to 24th in the bowling rankings and four spots to 12th in the all-rounders’ list.
The top 20 of the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings are still the same, but Sneh Rana of India has moved up four spots to a career-high joint-34th position, while Sugandika Kumari of Sri Lanka is not far behind, having moved up four spots to 37th.
