Litton Das supports long-term captaincy as the secret to Bangladesh's success, saying, "You can think about a lot of things."

Litton Das, Bangladesh’s recently appointed T20I captain, was straightforward when he said that it would be better for the team and himself if he were supported as captain for as long as possible. He also discussed the prior series-based planning system and how, with him in charge, the wicketkeeper-batter would like to move farther.

Litton Das, who has previously discussed not concentrating on a specific style of cricket, emphasised Bangladesh and said he expected his team to be ready for the T20 World Cup next year.

Naturally, being captain for a longer amount of time is a good thing. Because you have a lot of things to consider when you have a long-term opportunity. If I discuss the distinction, previous ideas were created series by series. I’ll be considering every facet of the future now that there’s a long-term potential. Personally, I’ll be aware that my objective is more expansive. Of course, series-based planning will continue, but I’ll also think about what else I can do in the future,” Litton said, as reported by Cricbuzz.

“How effectively can I manage my staff during this time is the question now. I also have a lot of hope that a long-term plan will be in place. I think we can do well at the World Cup with the personnel I have available,” he continued.

In an effort to provide the best results for the team, he also exhorted his comrades to show confidence in his leadership abilities.

“What do I desire at this moment? Which do I like better? I don’t want to see this, at least not in the T20 format; I want the player the team selects to bat in a particular position to be prepared for it. Naturally, I will never be batting at number seven on any given day. I won’t give anything to the Bangladesh team if it occurs. “I’ll do everything in my power to provide the team with what I can,” Litton said.

Both compliments and criticism must be carried with you: Litton Das

Litton Das claimed that he had not yet felt the weight of leadership on his shoulders for the time being, despite the fact that his coach, Muhammad Salahuddin, thought that leading the country was a high-pressure position. But he was honest enough to admit that things wouldn’t always go smoothly.

“Since Sir Salahuddin made that statement, it’s possible that he discovered some information beforehand. This is the longest I’ve ever done it. I’ve completed certain series, and I didn’t find it really difficult. However, it could become challenging for someone who has been doing it for a long time. You must manage both of these things at the same time since you hold responsibility in your head. Praise won’t come your way every time. “You must bear criticism as well as praise,” he said.

Before travelling to Pakistan for a five-game 20-over series, Bangladesh will next play a two-match Twenty20 International series against the United Arab Emirates. Due to a thumb injury, Litton was unable to participate in the Pakistan Super League. He is expected to play in his first games for the country since December 2024 against the United Arab Emirates.
