IPL chairman Arun Dhumal expressed his confidence that the international players who went home during the tournament’s break will return before play begins. He added that after consulting with the Indian government and the relevant parties, a decision will be made about the 10-team competition’s restart.
On Friday, May 9, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was put on hold for a week. Following the midway cancellation of the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala, the IPL issued a statement informing everyone of its decision to postpone the tournament’s business end.
“I have no doubt that international athletes would want to return and compete in the tournament. Everyone wanted to return to their loved ones during the week-long IPL suspension. In an interview with The Indian Express, Arun Dhumal stated, “We will assess the situation and inform all stakeholders, including our franchise owners, as necessary.”

According to some sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was offered the opportunity to host the remaining IPL matches in England by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The willingness of other countries to host the prestigious league pleased Dhumal. He did clarify, though, that no discussions on moving the remaining games to the European nation have taken place with the ECB.
“I’m hearing this, too. However, we haven’t spoken to them. “I’m happy that nations are willing to host this prestigious competition,” Arun Dhumal remarked.
The IPL 2025 still has 16 games to play. This consists of three playoff games, twelve league games, and the crucial championship game. The Gujarat Titans, who were once winners and are coached by Shubman Gill, are presently atop the standings. The Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already been eliminated from the playoff chase.
