In the event that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unable to hold the tournament within a week, former England cricketer Dawid Malan thought the remaining games of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 would continue in September. Because of the growing tensions along the India-Pakistan border, the IPL 2025 was halted for a week.
All eleven franchises’ foreign players have already left for their native countries. According to the top-order batsman, just the September window will be available if the BCCI is unable to host the remaining matches in India or Sri Lanka. The rest of the IPL must be finished as soon as possible because India will be travelling to England for a five-match Test series starting on June 20.
“I assume they will begin in September if it doesn’t occur in India or Sri Lanka in a week like that. “It is a logistical nightmare for the organisers because they have a huge Test series against England in a few months, and the IPL has to end before or start after that,” Dawid Malan stated at Al Arabiya.
Regarding the safety worries of players and citizens of both countries, the batter continued, “I suppose they have to wait and see how next week plays out.”

The left-handed batsman demanded that Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, or India host the tournament. The 37-year-old acknowledged that due to the winter, South Africa is not a viable option to host the league.
The England player stated, “It’s not the first time it has happened with the IPL, not in terms of severity, that has been going on between the two countries, but IPL was moved to the UAE midway through in 2020/2021 when COVID hit.”
“They have already played certain possibilities in South Africa. Practically speaking, they must begin in India or the United Arab Emirates if they must begin within a week. Given that it would be winter there, South Africa would not be a possibility,” he said.
