The Mumbai Premier tournament (MPL 2025), which was scheduled to be held by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) from May 26 to June 5, is India’s next Twenty20 tournament after the IPL. The squads for each of the eight teams were determined at the league’s auction on May 7.
All of the matches in this tournament’s third season are slated to take place at Mumbai’s storied Wankhede Stadium. It will include some of Mumbai’s top players, such as Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Odishatv, however, claims that the tournament may be halted due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, much like the IPL, which is currently halted by the BCCI for a week following 58 matches in order to protect players and spectators and to restrict travel routes.
The young Mumbai players, who had a chance to establish themselves in the competition, which would have included some major domestic and international stars, are also negatively impacted by this. Atharva Ankolekar, Ayush Mhatre, Musheer Khan, and Sairaj Patil were among the top purchases in the local T20 league’s recently finished auction.
