Faced top-level bowling – TN batting coach sees Sai Sudharsan as Rohit Sharma’s Test successor

Tanveer Jabbar, the batting coach for Tamil Nadu, recently talked about the variety of batting weapons that B Sai Sudharsan possesses. Jabbar explained how Sai Sudharsan soft bottom hand helped him play “two shots for each ball” in detail.

He also went into detail about how Sai Sudharsan backlift improved his strokeplay and made the southpaw’s batting much easier.

His fluid hands and attitude are what really catch my attention as a hitting coach. He is among the select few who use a very soft bottom hand when playing. He thus completes the majority of his runs where he plans to. He is a man who can help you set limits and get single. His greatest strength is his backlift. He has good game awareness because to his mindset.

Having control over your bat and backlift is demonstrated by a gentle bottom hand. The ability to control the bat is essential for directing the ball. You will jab at the ball if you hold the bat tightly. That’s just for striking. According to The Indian Express, Jabbar said, “He has two shots for each ball.”

The batting coach for the domestic team, who has also worked closely with the Southpaw, emphasised Sai Sudharsan ability to play the straight drive while remarking that he was a player who could play all over the pitch.

Our main criteria are that a hitter should have a minimum of two options for each delivery. Sai has worked on that particular project. He has been so successful because of this. He can go on the defensive and punch the short ball to cover it, and if necessary, he can also pull it.

He has the straight drive, sweeps, and pulls. Very few batters on the domestic circuit play straight drives, if you look around. Their bat flow is the reason behind that. However, his technique is evident from the images he has in his book. In addition to his excellent hands, he clearly has very agile feet. All of this indicates that he has excellent balance when his head is steady,” he continued.

has been overseas and interacted with the IPL’s top players: Jabbar

Jabbar said that the GT opener’s time in county cricket and the IPL had given him a great level of exposure to good bowlers, which is another reason why he would be the perfect batsman for India at the top of the order for their forthcoming tour to England.

“He’s been exposed to enough international-caliber bowlers. He has been overseas and interacted with the IPL’s top players. Because the bowlers will occasionally need to adjust their angles, being a left-hander is an extra benefit. In England, his gentle bottom hand will also be quite helpful. His rushing between the wickets is the only difficulty I can see. He usually tries to get off strike and is too fast for the other batters,” Jabbar said.

Up until now, Sudharsan, who plays for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, has amassed 509 runs in 11 innings with a remarkable strike rate of 153.31. In the past, he has also played for Surrey in the County Championship, having performed admirably in England’s top domestic red-ball league.
