But in his post-match remarks, Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya bemoaned the no-balls that the Mumbai Indians (MI) bowlers had produced during the match, including two that he had delivered and one that Deepak Chahar had bowled in the final over of GT’s chase. These deliveries were referred to as “a crime” by Pandya.
There were many highs and lows in the 56th Indian Premier League (IPL) game of the 2025 season, but in the end, the Gujarat Titans (GT), the visitors, prevailed.
We weren’t particularly harmed by the catches. With that, we were really clinical,” Hardik Pandya remarked following MI’s loss.
“It’s possible that the no-balls, my no-ball, and perhaps the last [over] no-ball will all be used. That is a crime in my opinion, and it usually comes back to haunt you. It certainly affected us, but at the same time, I was really pleased with the boys for giving it their all and ensuring that we continued to play the game.
Additionally, Hardik Pandya commented on the wicket at Wankhede, which remained a challenge to the batters during both innings. The MI captain, however, believed that MI might have scored much more in the second half of their batting innings, as they only managed to add 58 runs in the final 9.3 overs while losing six wickets.
“It was unquestionably not a 150-wicket innings. The captain of MI’s all-rounder team stated, “I believe it was a 175 [surface].”
“We were undoubtedly 20–25 runs short in our batting, or perhaps 30 runs if you had batted effectively. However, I believe the bowlers deserve praise since they continued to battle and bowl in the appropriate spots.
“The ground wasn’t damp throughout the first inning. After that, the ball continued to get wetter for the duration of the innings. It was challenging, albeit I’m not sure if it was helpful to us or not. Rain continued to fall. Stopping and starting again and stopping again is never truly optimal. However, the game continues.
Mumbai will undoubtedly still be in the running for the playoffs after this loss, even though it might now be challenging to place in the top two.
