Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, was fined for his team’s poor over rate against the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Hardik Pandya was fined INR 24 lakhs because it was his team’s second infringement of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences.
The Impact Player and the concussion substitute were among the other players in the playing XI who were each fined INR 6 lakh or 25% of their respective match fees, whichever was lower.

For violating the IPL Code of Conduct, Ashish Nehra, the head coach of the Gujarat Titans, has been fined 25% of his match costs and has also accrued one demerit point. He accepted the Match Referee’s sentence after acknowledging committing the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20, which deals with behaviour that goes against the spirit of the game.
The Match Referee’s ruling is definitive and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct.
