Star batsman Tilak Varma of the Mumbai Indians recently took a break from the hectic IPL schedule to play pickleball with actor Vijay Deverakonda. Prior to Tuesday, May 6’s matchup against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium, the two faced off against one another.
Vijay Deverakonda pledged to wear the Mumbai Indians jersey if Tilak Varma team won the pickleball match.
In a tight 2-1 victory, the actor and his partner outperformed the cricket player and his teammate. Even though it was a friendly match, both teams played hard, and Tilak Varma made a joke about helping the actor if he lost.
“We are wagering. We must do something for Vijay Anna if we lose,” Tilak stated. “If we win,” the celebrity actor replied. “I will wear the Mumbai Indians jersey.” Tilak had previously been seen having fun with pickleball alongside MI colleague Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira, so this wasn’t his first time trying the sport.

When Mumbai plays Gujarat, the Southpaw will be expecting to perform at his typical level on the cricket pitch. With 14 points apiece, both teams are vying for a spot in the top two. MI, which is in third place right now, has a strong record at Wankhede Stadium and has won six straight games. Notably, the 22-year-old has scored 239 runs in eight innings, including two fifties, so far this season.
However, in order to overcome Mumbai’s formidable lineup, GT will mostly rely on their top order, which consists of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, as well as their returning bowling leader, Kagiso Rabada.
