Following the annual revisions, India continues to occupy the top spots in the ODI and T20I rankings, while Australia maintains a commanding lead at the top of the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings table.
Following the annual update, a record 100 teams are listed in T20Is according to the most recent rankings, which give all matches played since May 2024 a 100% rating and those from the preceding two years a 50% rating.
Although their lead has shrunk from 15 to 13 points, Australia, who defeated India 3-1 at home in their most recent series before winning 2-0 in Sri Lanka, still holds the top spot in Test matches.
Following 3-0 victories over the West Indies and 2-1 series victories over New Zealand and Sri Lanka, England has risen to second place. The removal of their 2021–22 results, in which they lost all three series, has boosted their rating more than these wins.
With only ten teams currently listed, South Africa and India have each fallen a spot, but the other spots are unaltered. Afghanistan needs to play three more Test matches in the upcoming year, while Ireland needs to play one more to earn a ranking.
India’s lead in the ODI rankings has grown from 12 to 15 points.
India’s triumph in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 was the high point of a prosperous year, but three other series—a 2-1 victory in South Africa, a 3-0 victory at home against England, and a 2-0 victory over Sri Lanka in a three-match away series—were also significant.
New Zealand, who advanced to the Champions Trophy final, has moved up to second place, but Sri Lanka has improved the most, moving up two spots from sixth to fourth, surpassing South Africa and Pakistan.
Afghanistan has surpassed England, and the West Indies has surpassed Bangladesh to claim ninth place.
Even though their advantage over Australia has shrunk from 10 to nine points, India is still unquestionably at the top of the Men’s T20I Team Rankings.
Along with series victories over England, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, they won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup last year and went on to whitewash Bangladesh and Sri Lanka 3-0.
The top six remains unchanged, with South Africa, the West Indies, New Zealand, and England coming in that order. Ireland is now in 11th place, ahead of Zimbabwe, while Sri Lanka has moved up to seventh place, surpassing Pakistan.
Canada’s nine-point leap puts them in 19th place and ahead of Oman, who are the worst losers in terms of ranking points, after dropping eight points. This is the largest increase in terms of rating points.
The biggest winners in Saturday’s update, which ranks 100 sides based on their participation in at least eight Twenty20 Internationals over the previous three years, are Estonia (up seven spots to 61st) and the Bahamas (up eight spots to 51st). There were 80 ranked teams in 2019 when the global rankings were introduced.
