Adam Gilchrist likens Sir Donald Bradman to Jasprit Bumrah.

Australian great Adam Gilchrist believes that Jasprit Bumrah, the star pacer for India and the Mumbai Indians (MI), is the bowling equivalent of Sir Donald Bradman.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw MI lose three of its opening four games, while Bumrah missed all four. MI is currently leading the IPL 2025 points table after winning six of their last seven games since his return.

Despite bowling the difficult overs for his team, Bumrah has taken 11 wickets at an average of 15.3 and an economy rate of 7 in seven games. Bumrah has the second-best economy among bowlers who have bowled at least 25 overs in the 2025 Indian Premier League, behind Kuldeep Yadav (15.3).

“He is arguably the greatest fast bowler of all time. Gilchrist stated on Cricbuzz, “I suppose you look at Sir Donald Bradman’s numbers compared to his peers, and he’s just so far ahead when you start stacking up the statistics and the different conditions that he has to go out and execute those skills.”

When it comes to the various conditions and pitches that you have to bowl on, I believe Bumrah falls into that category. He is far ahead of his classmates, which indicates that greatness is actually being witnessed.

Bumrah was instrumental in helping India fight back against Pat Cummins and company even during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. In five Test matches, the right-arm pacer claimed 32 wickets at an incredible average of 13.1 and a strike rate of 28.4, including three five-wicket and two four-wicket hauls.

In the Australian summer, I don’t believe that an Indian seaman was there at all times, especially during the series that we recently watched. We simply watched and commented on that series from a close distance. I know it’s a different format, but there’s no arguing that he is the finest bowler in all formats.
