Due to bone stress reactions in both of his shins, Vignesh Puthur, a left-arm wristspinner for the Mumbai Indians (MI), will not be participating in the 2025 Indian Premier League. Raghu Sharma, an uncapped legspinner, has been signed by the team to replace Puthur.
Earlier this season, Puthur made a remarkable debut by taking three wickets against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). At an economy rate of 9.08, he claimed six wickets overall in five games.
The organisation announced in a statement that “Vignesh will continue to be with the team to focus on his recovery and rehabilitation with the Mumbai Indians medical and S&C team.”
At his basic price of INR 30 lakh, Raghu, 32, who was a member of MI’s net bowlers, joins the main team.
Like Puthur, this will be his first IPL season.
Over the years, he has played domestic cricket for Punjab and Puducherry. He has taken 57 wickets at an average of 19.59 in 11 first-class games. In nine List A matches and three T20 matches, he has claimed 14 wickets.
MI only won one of its five games in the competition, which was a disappointing start. With 12 points from ten games, they are now ranked third in the standings after stacking five consecutive victories.
