Rohit Sharma, the opening batsman for the Mumbai Indians (MI), was commended by batting coach Kieron Pollard for hitting consecutive 70s in the 2025 Indian Premier League. Having struggled with his form since the beginning of the season, the former captain helped MI strengthen their position in the playoff race by hammering the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Even though he had only scored 82 runs in the first six innings, Pollard had great faith in Rohit and had known from the beginning of the IPL that the right-handed batsman will regain his form, so a few poor performances don’t really matter.
Interestingly, Rohit Sharma was injured and missed a game as well.
Fortunately for MI, he returned to form and had a spectacular comeback in the IPL. The former Caribbean all-rounder stated in a recent interview that they always had faith in the star batter to get back to his best even after a few subdued hits.
“For us, we always believed that he will turn out well. Dips are present. Confidence is low. You have these times, though, if you’ve been playing this sport for a long period. Sometimes all you need is a little more help from others. We are now extolling his virtues. In the Mumbai dressing room, everyone is really cheerful. ESPNcricinfo cited him as stating, “We were happy at the beginning as well, knowing that it is going to happen, and long may it continue.”
Prior to the LSG match, Pollard commends captain Hardik Pandya.
The batting coach also talked about captain Hardik Pandya and how he has overcome many obstacles in his life, both on and off the pitch, but never gives up and always strives for victory. Under Pandya’s leadership, the Mumbai Indians (MI) have resumed their winning ways in the competition, despite a poor start. He has performed well overall in the majority of games, which, in Pollard’s opinion, says a lot about him and his abilities.
“It is great to see a human being that has been challenged in different facets of not only cricket but of life come out and continue to show what cricket and what winning means to him,” said Pollard.
