Stephen Fleming, the head coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), examined Ravindra Jadeja’s batting difficulties against spinners in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. On Friday, April 25, the Men in Yellow will play Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both sides are struggling at the bottom of the points table and need to win this tie.
Ravindra Jadeja began the 2025 Indian Premier League as a finisher, hitting down in the order.
He has, however, moved up in the batting order throughout the last two games. He scored an undefeated 53 off 35 against the Mumbai Indians but was cheaply dismissed for 7 off 11 against the Lucknow Super Giants. Jadeja has been dealing with a lot of spin since being promoted in the batting order, which hasn’t been his strong suit in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
The Saurashtra all-rounder has only been dismissed once in the IPL 2025 while averaging 94 and hitting at 164.91 against pacers. Ravindra Jadeja has been out four times this season, though, as spinners have had the upper hand. His strike rate and average fall precipitously to 87.93 and 12.75, respectively.
Ravindra Jadeja batting against the tweakers has a lot of space for growth, according to Fleming. The former captain of New Zealand expressed hope that the all-round player will quickly discover a solution to the issue.
“In our opinion, there is a lot of space for improvement and some opportunities. I am aware that he has done it for a few games in the past, but he hasn’t had much success at it; instead, it’s more about his mindset. At the pre-match news conference, Fleming stated, “We’re looking at a lot of things right now to see if there are gains within the team with one view on trying to win every game remaining in the IPL but also in the future.”
The former captain of New Zealand also stated that the team want to try out individuals in areas they haven’t previously excelled in.
“So we think there are areas that we can explore with our players where they haven’t perhaps conquered it in the past and just trying to change some attitudes around it,” he said.
