Matthew Hayden's counsel to struggling SRH: "Stop overanalysing and concentrate on your own game."

Matthew Hayden, a former Australian cricket player, blamed SRH’s dismal IPL 2025 performance on a rising sense of insecurity in the team as a result of the way opponents have been defeating them this season.

In terms of the current season, Sunrisers Hyderabad, the runners-up in the IPL 2024, have had a difficult first half. Only two of their first eight games have been victories. SRH will need to win all of their remaining games and hope for other favourable outcomes in order to qualify for the playoffs.

“The most straightforward explanation is simply insufficient confidence. It’s difficult to recover when you start losing the way SRH has. They were once thought of as benchmark batters, but that is no longer the case.

“Middle-order problems have resulted from this,” Matthew Hayden said on JioHotstar.

Hayden also believed that rather than obsessing about their playing combinations, the Orange Army needed to find their winning formula again.

“They must put their own game first and quit overanalysing. He continued, “SRH is currently pursuing this tournament, chasing combinations, and even pursuing the form that formerly characterised their potent batting team.

The most recent defeat for SRH occurred on Wednesday, April 23, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium against the Mumbai Indians. After being asked to bat first, they plodded to a pathetically low total of 143/8. MI responded by winning the match with 26 deliveries remaining and seven wickets.

Heinrich Klaasen, the wicketkeeper-batter, led the home team in scoring with 71 runs off of 44 deliveries. In terms of the bowling unit, Harshal Patel was the most impressive player. He gave up just 21 runs in his three overs, despite going wicketless.

On Friday, April 25, SRH will play the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. With a victory over a struggling CSK team, the Pat Cummins-led team hopes to turn around their faltering campaign. The match is expected to be an exciting match because both teams are desperate to win.
