Rashid Khan, the spin magician for the Gujarat Titans (GT), praised Shubman Gill’s leadership throughout the current IPL 2025. Gill has had an outstanding batting approach this season, despite missing his century by 10 runs in the previous game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Despite having trouble scoring early in the innings, he managed to hit three sixes and ten boundaries while reaching 90 runs off 55 balls.
GT scored 198 runs in the first innings and defeated the Kolkata-based team by 39 runs. It’s interesting to note that the Gujarat-based team is presently leading the standings with six victories in eight games and is the team closest to making the playoffs.
Rashid gave the right-handed batter high marks for his composure on the pitch and his ability to control the squad, the bowlers and the atmosphere. According to the Afghanistan player, Shubman Gill possesses every attribute that makes a great leader.
“Shubman Gill has a highly promising future as a leader because of his mindset and grasp of the game, in addition to his abilities as a batter. He has a strategy. He is quite composed, and based on his on-field actions—how he leads the team, bowlers, and surroundings—I believe he possesses all the traits of a successful leader. I believe the pressure is much greater here than it was in the World Cup because he is captaining in such a major league. As a captain, this is his finest chance to perform well under duress and make audacious choices,” Rashid stated on JioHotstar.
Rashid Khan shares his journey with GT in the IPL
Rashid Khan also discussed his experience playing in the IPL with the Gujarat Titans (GT). He has been with the Gujarat-based team for three years, and during that time, he has made significant contributions with the bat and the ball, helping them win the title in 2022.
“The players and coaching staff have been incredibly welcoming to me since I joined this team. I never felt like I had played for another team for five years before. I began to like the game much more at that point as the family vibe developed. Even with the bat, my performance improved and I was given more chances. It’s crucial that there be open communication and some responsibility when working as a team,” Rashid continued.
