Jitesh Sharma, a wicket-keeper for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), discusses how playing the final position in the tournament has altered his style of play. As the game goes on, the 31-year-old batter is still hoping to score important runs for his club.
Although several individuals have had outstanding performances, the RCB team has enjoyed a fantastic season thus far. Despite not scoring many runs, the Vidarbha batsman has contributed significantly in each of his six games, hitting 154.38 throughout the competition.
individuals like Jitesh Sharma have also had some underappreciated efforts.
As the team’s designated finisher, Jitesh Sharma has disclosed how his perspective and methodology have evolved since being assigned this responsibility. Jitesh Sharma has also stated that he now views innings of 30–40 runs as milestones because it is difficult to score 50+ runs when he is batting lower in the order.
Everyone appears to be a finisher these days. However, I haven’t scored a fifty since I started finishing, so it’s challenging to bat at No. 6 or No. 7. I served as an opener. In the past, I enjoyed elevating my bat when I hit a milestone, such as a fifty or a hundred. However, I have never had the opportunity to make a fifty since I started as a finisher. For the most part, it has been 10 balls, 30 runs. In the most recent episode of RCB Bold Diaries, Jitesh stated, “20 balls, 40 runs.”
“For us, these scores have reached 50. A score of 60 to 70 in 30 balls is equivalent to a 100. And doing that makes me very happy. Your thoughts will undoubtedly become exhausted if the team wins. You may take control of the game from there, which is an advantage. You get a sense of what the bowlers on your squad are capable of doing on a surface.
Being able to read other powerful batters is also advantageous since it helps a rookie batsman grasp the wicket when he takes four or six balls. I’ve kept the wicket before, so I know that in two balls. I continue to participate for 240 balls. For me, that’s what makes cricket enjoyable,” he continued.
Karthik is constantly eager to learn new things.
Jitesh Sharma was also commended by RCB batting coach and mentor Dinesh Karthik, who also said that working with him is enjoyable. Karthik also disclosed how much effort he is putting into his game and how eager he is to absorb knowledge from the coaching team.
He is constantly eager to learn new things. What can I do? he asks. He refers to me as Anna. Those discussions have been really constructive. At this point, he’s open to trying anything I suggest. That’s why it’s so much pleasure. Karthik stated, as cited by NDTV Sports, “I feel like I can push myself (with Jitesh) if I work with him for a year or two.”
