Georgia Voll of Australia and Shreyas Iyer of India were named the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for March 2025 by the International Cricket Council (ICC) today.
Shreyas Iyer leads India’s run-scoring statistics and excels in the closing moments of their historic ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 victory, earning him his second ICC Men’s Player of the Month title.
Voll, meanwhile, celebrates winning her first ICC Women’s Player of the Month award. She did so following her spectacular batting performances during Australia’s successful T20I sweep of New Zealand.
Voll defeats fellow countrywoman Annabel Sutherland and American Chetnaa Prasad in the women’s division, while Shreyas Iyer defeats New Zealand pair Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra to take the men’s prize.
Both victories prolong their countries’ Player of the Month winning streaks. Iyer wins consecutive awards for India after Shubman Gill’s victory in February, and Voll is the fourth consecutive Australian woman to win Women’s Player of the Month.
After a vote by international supporters and a specialised panel made up of media representatives, former international players, and ICC Hall of Famers, both players were crowned.
Iyer led India to a historic third victory in the competition’s history with 172 runs at an average of 57.33 in the last three games of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
The top-order batsman first hit a game-winning 79 in 98 balls as the competition neared its conclusion, guaranteeing India’s victory over New Zealand in their last group stage encounter.
After helping India win a difficult semi-final match against Australia with a crucial 45-run partnership with Virat Kohli, he once again set the stage for a thrilling run chase against New Zealand, hitting a steady 48 in 62 balls that saw them reach 252 for victory in front of jubilant spectators in Dubai.
Shreyas Iyer, the March ICC Men’s Player of the Month, stated: “It is a great honour for me to be recognised as the March ICC Men’s Player of the Month. I will always treasure the day we lifted the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, which makes this accolade all the more memorable.
Every cricket player aspires to be able to help India win on such a significant platform. For their unfailing belief and support, I am thankful to my coaches, teammates, and support staff.
“We also want to express our sincere gratitude to the fans, whose support and enthusiasm keep us going at every turn.”
The ideal approach to wrap up the season: Georgia Voll
Voll, the ICC Women’s Player of the Month, has already shown promise on the international front despite only making her debut in December.
The 21-year-old’s spectacular array of strokes during March’s matches against rivals New Zealand made headlines right away. In the initial encounter in Auckland, she smashed her first T20I half-century in just 30 balls as Australia skilfully chased down 138 for win.
Before putting on a Player of the Match-winning display in Wellington, where the opener scored 75 runs in 57 balls to guarantee a decisive series sweep over the T20 World Cup champions, she added 36 more runs in Mount Maunganui.
Georgia Voll, the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March, stated: “It’s a great way to wrap up an amazing summer for the team and myself.
“The best way to finish the season was to travel to New Zealand and assert that the T20 series against the World Champions was ideal.” The Australian team’s first summer has flown by, and I’m eager to see what the upcoming campaign will bring.
