Justin Langer shared his thoughts on the scenario of the IPL mega auction. The head coach of LSG once said in a podcast that it is “bizarre” to only keep five players every three years.
According to the former Australian coach, a squad should be composed of a core group of 20 players for an extended length of time.
“Out of the 25 players we had the previous year, five were kept, and the remaining 20 were returned to the pool. Every three years, you have to start over after this enormous auction. “It’s strange,” Justin Langer stated on the “Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast.”
According to the former opener, no other sport has a situation where clubs or national teams occasionally need to overhaul their roster.
“Is there another sport that comes to mind where this occurs? “I wish I could keep 20 players and create a culture, but that’s not how it works,” Langer continued.
Every three years, the IPL’s teams go through a significant metamorphosis thanks to enormous auctions.
I always believed that we put in a lot of work, but these guys are really exceptional. Justin Langer commends Indian players for their diligence.
According to Justin Langer, Indians are the most industrious people he has ever encountered.
“I’ve never witnessed anything like the hunger for work in India. All they do is keep on practicing. It’s crazy. The head coach of LSG said, “I always thought we worked hard, but these guys are on a different level.”
So far, LSG’s IPL 2025 tournament has gone well. The team, based in Lucknow, has won three and lost two of their five games. They suffered a thrilling defeat against DC. On Saturday, April 12, they will take on the Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions and top-seeded team.
