Digvesh Singh Rathi‘s excitement after taking wickets in the IPL 2025 has made headlines. For celebrating against the Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, respectively, the bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants was fined 25% and 50% of the match money.
After Tuesday’s game between LSG and KKR, Simon Doull shared his thoughts on Digvesh’s celebration and penalty.
After dismissing Sunil Narine, the leg-spinner downplayed his excitement, saying that Digvesh’s punishment was paid by LSG’s management. He added that he enjoyed festivities and believed the bowler had done nothing wrong to warrant a fine. He asserted that despite their extremely violent celebrations, he had witnessed larger Indian players escape punishment.
“The team must be responsible for paying the fines. It bothers me. He hasn’t done anything wrong, and I adore the festivities. Senior Indian players have done far worse, gotten in your face, and gone unpunished. They are using a young man who is, what, writing something in his notepad as an example. Cricbuzz expressed Doull’s opinion.

Digvesh’s LSG teammate Shahbaz Ahmed discussed it and verified that the spinner had said goodbye to Priyansh in a cordial manner. In order to prevent major repercussions, he hoped his teammate would moderate his celebration during the next games.
“His best friend is Priyansh Arya, whom Digvesh fired to organise the celebration for the first time. Shahbaz had stated following the incident, “He did it on a friendly note, but since he is about to be suspended, I hope he doesn’t repeat it.”
