All-rounder Glenn Maxwell of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) was fined 25% of his match money and given one demerit point for violating the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) code of conduct during Tuesday’s IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mullanpur.
Glenn Maxwell offence is classified as Level 1 under Article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct, which deals with misusing fixtures and fittings during a game. The player acknowledged the violation and agreed to the Match Referee’s punishment, according to the IPL’s official statement. Decisions pertaining to Level 1 violations are final and legally binding in accordance with IPL practice.
Actions under Article 2.2 usually include moments of frustration where a player might damage stadium property or equipment, such as kicking stumps, hitting advertising boards, or damaging dressing room fittings. However, the specifics of the incident have not been made public.

In contrast, PBKS batted first in the IPL encounter and amassed 219/6 in the 20 overs they were given, primarily because of a spectacular century from youthful opener Priyansh Arya, who hammered 103 off 42 balls. Arriving at number six, Glenn Maxwell was caught and bowled by Ravi Ashwin for a just one run off two balls.
The Australian made amends with the ball, taking the crucial wicket of Rachin Ravindra, who was stumped after adding 36 runs to the total, despite his lacklustre batting performance. He finished with stats of 1/11 after bowling just two overs.
