The adjustments that Virat Kohli has made to his T20 batting over the past few months were discussed by Sunil Gavaskar. The cricket specialist in the JioHotstar dugout observed that Virat Kohli intention to play lofted shots had changed. Instead of hitting lofted shots after being set, the JioStar analyst asserted that Kohli has been doing so from the beginning.
The bowlers who were expecting him to play drives and flick strokes were hit with lofted deliveries, according to Gavaskar, forcing them to change their approach. The former Indian cricket player stated, “His intention to play lofted shots much earlier has been the big difference over the last season and a half.”
“Those lofted shots used to occur later in the innings, but he’s starting to take chances from ball one now, and it’s really helping. The ball is now being seen going over the infield for boundaries by bowlers who were ready for his drives and flicks. He is benefitting greatly from that shift in perspective, which has confused the bowlers, Gavaskar continued.
Sunil Gavaskar said, “Rajat is fortunate to have that environment.”
Rajat Patidar’s 64(32) at bat was a major factor in RCB’s victory. Virat’s 67 (42), which set the tone, was built upon by the RCB captain, who made sure the team got off to a strong start in the middle overs phase. Gavaskar said Rajat was confident because he was working for a reputable RCB executive team.
“He certainly seems liberated as the leader, and he knows he’s got a solid group around him,” Gavaskar said. The former Indian cricket player said that Patidar’s leadership had been greatly influenced by Dinesh Karthik, which had benefited RCB.
“Rajat is fortunate to work with a team that is driven to succeed. After 17 years without a title, they now know what it takes to succeed. The former Indian opener on the JioStar panel asserted, “With a calm, easygoing captain, others are also stepping up with their experience to help move the team forward.”
