In a recent podcast, MS Dhoni talked about his early years in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The legendary Chennai Super Kings player and former captain of India discussed his relationships with his family and friends at the time and shared some fascinating details about his early years.
During the conversation, the 43-year-old talked extensively about the childhood years. He talked about the games he played with his pals in the colony and disclosed that he was raised in a regulated home.
“There was no insecurity in life when we were children. Every day was the same, and there was no room for uncertainty. I don’t believe we had any insecurities. There was no ostentation, and there were no cell phones in the area. MS Dhoni stated on the podcast of Raj Shamani.
We grew up in a fairly structured environment. In earlier times, there was no badmasshi because the school was located within the colony. My older brother and I were ten years apart in age, and my teachers had also taught him. They therefore knew the entire family by name. In the beginning, the only competitive activities were games played in my colony, where you had to win the following day if you lost one day,” the five-time IPL champion continued.
If my dad notices, we’re out! – MS Dhoni
Speaking about his early years, MS Dhoni also disclosed that he was terrified of his father, whom he described as being really strict. Additionally, he related an instance in which his pals would scale the colony’s walls, but he used to stay away from it due to his father.
I used to be terribly afraid of my father, “Papa se darr bohot lagta tha.” He was quite severe. He had a strict schedule and was expected to be punctual. I am regimented, though, for the same reason. He didn’t beat us or anything like that. But there was that fear. I never dared to climb the colony’s walls like my pals did. If my dad notices, we’re out! We were terrified even though we had no idea what the repercussions would be,” Dhoni said.
