In the current IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League), Aakash Chopra recently examined the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) performance against the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) in Match 17. As the pressure increased as wickets continued to fall from both ends, the well-known cricket commentator voiced uncertainty about CSK’s strategy during the run chase. Aakash Chopra said that during his observing experience, he had never witnessed a more lacklustre performance from CSK.
After the tenth over of their innings, the former Indian cricket player believed the CSK players had made up their minds not to pursue the aim. He believed they defended much more than they ought to have and wondered if the hitters even tried to chase down the total.
“What did you do, Chennai? Wickets were dropping like they were a joke when the run chase began. This is the most pathetic performance I have ever seen from you. After the tenth over, you most likely decided you didn’t want to pursue. Have you attempted to pursue at all? On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra stated, “You were taking singles and defending while the required run rate was increasing.”

Aakash Chopra also questioned why, despite spending a significant amount of time in the middle, Vijay Shankar and MS Dhoni did not demonstrate enough purpose. Aakash insisted that the hitters before Dhoni were not Dhoni, even if he admitted that detractors might point out what the preceding batters had attempted to do.
“Whether it’s the way MS Dhoni or Vijay Shankar started, everyone is guilty as accused. This is when the haters may come to enquire about the actions of the preceding batters. Dhoni is not the name of the previous batters. The best finisher of all time is Dhoni. Where was the intention if he played that way too? I didn’t get it,” Chopra continued.
DC defeated CSK by a margin of 25 runs. With a four and a six, Dhoni scored an undefeated 30* (25). Vijay Shankar, on the other hand, scored an undefeated 69* (54), which featured a six and five fours. The pair did not appear to be interested in pursuing the total.
