Before the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 in India, Charlotte Edwards, the recently hired head coach of England’s women’s side, has some significant commitments to make. The head coach, a former English cricket player, stated that she is very excited to join the team and that her first objective would be to assess the team’s level of fitness.
For the forthcoming World Cup, Charlotte Edwards wants every team member to be healthy and prepared. The head coach discussed her goals with the team and the ICC event in a video posted to social media by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
“Next week will be my first week of profiling, so I’ll be able to assess the team’s fitness level for myself. I’ll hold the players more responsible for maintaining their fitness. This has a lot of facets.
In the ECB-shared video, Charlotte Edwards stated, “I know we’re closer than the 16-0 scoreline suggests.”
“If I didn’t believe that we could win the World Cup in India in six months, I wouldn’t have accepted this position. To do that, we have the playing group,” Charlotte Edwards continued.

England’s new captain is hinted at by the head coach.
The head coach of England did not provide any information regarding the team’s future captain. She did say, though, that he will make the announcement shortly. The front-runners are reportedly Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone, Amy Jones, Kate Cross, and Charlie Dean.
“It is imperative that we announce that individual as soon as possible. It will probably happen within the next few weeks. Over the coming week, I have several talks to have. Edwards stated, “I’m fairly clear about where I want to take the team and who I want to be involved with.”
