The excitement is expected to hit Bengaluru on April 2 as the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL) season gets begin. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will play their maiden game at the storied M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced an expansion of metro services on all match days in Bengaluru in order to handle the increase in commuters. By guaranteeing that public transit is available for a safe return trip, BMRCL hopes to assist supporters, especially during late-night games. This change in business hours demonstrates how attentive BMRCL was during the IPL season. Additionally, by promoting mass transit use, the reorganisation of metro services contributes to improved security and traffic reduction.
BMRCL has advised all passengers to be aware of these changes and to keep informed of any future announcements pertaining to service modifications, according to India Today. Bengaluru’s ability to adapt to urbanisation and its dedication to serving locals and tourists during one of the biggest athletic events of the year are demonstrated by this action.
Changes to the Metro service schedule during days of the IPL
BMRCL has modified the schedule because the IPL season always sees an upsurge in commuters. At half past midnight (12:30 AM), the final services will now leave from any of the four terminal stations: Whitefield (Kadugodi), Challaghatta, Silk Institute, and Madavara.
In order to facilitate travel in all directions, the final service from Majestic’s Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station will be at a quarter past one (01:15 AM). This will allow supporters adequate time to go to metro stations following games, which frequently end late at night.
Extended IPL match dates for metro service
On match days in Bengaluru, BMRCL has expanded metro services to handle the spike in travellers during IPL 2025. On April 2, 10, 18, and 24, as well as on May 3, May 13, and May 17, the updated schedule will take effect.
These changes strengthen BMRCL’s dedication to offering smooth public transportation during important athletic events by ensuring that supporters can go home easily after late-night games.
