At their home field, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to earn their second victory of the IPL 2025 season. The team won by eight wickets thanks to Shreyas Iyer (52 off 30) and Nehal Wadhera (43* off 35).
Following the game, Nehal Wadhera talked candidly about it, stating that he was only told about it late. Although he just had “one kit” and wasn’t well prepared, the player admitted that he wasn’t particularly anxious about the game.
The way Prabhsimran batted was excellent, our bowlers bowled well, and Shreyas bhai and everyone else performed really well. We also needed this victory. I didn’t feel particularly anxious, but I wasn’t aware that I would be performing today, so I only took one kit. I found out later that I would be playing today. Nehal Wadhera stated during the post-match presentation, “I wanted to play my shots and take my chances when I went into bat.”

After Nehal Wadhera’s game-winning knock against LSG, he praised head coach Ricky Ponting for encouraging the team. With his vast knowledge of the game, Ponting has managed the team incredibly effectively, and the results are evident on the pitch.
“I have worked under some of the best coaches, and up until today, I have never heard anything bad about Ricky Ponting. “He only talks positively, and when a coach says that, it gives you more confidence,” the Punjab batter said in closing.
